Ahana Books welcomes you

Ahana is a new publishing house established for the promotion of women’s literature in India. Ahana intends to publish works for and by women in the fields of travel, humour, romance and serious literature. Its aim is to celebrate womankind, and to make the marginalized part of the mainstream.

Ahana is the Rig Vedic Goddess of Dawn.

…. Ahana visits each house daily

Perpetually diffusing light

And desirous of bestowing benefits…

The morning has broken. Ahana peeps over the curve of the earth. Sundrops flake from her eyes as she gazes at the unstirring world stretched out beneath her. The dawn chorus is just beginning, the birds awaking as they sense her presence amongst them. Ahana’s robes of purple and red and orange flutter, changing colour as she progresses on her journey. As she glides across the sky, sunbeams trail behind her. Her hands brush over the earth, leaving little messages of hope and joy, lightening hearts just as she does the sky. Awake, she urges:

Awake to the day that awaits you,

Listen to the sweet notes of the morning

Rising softly in the air.

Listen carefully, let your heart be aware

Sunbeams are waiting to light your path.

With a heart exultant and a mind illumined,

Reach out, touch the warmth

And Let your soul sing.

Let words of truth be spoken

Let works of wisdom be performed

Let the blazing fires rise up

And make manifest the treasures hidden by darkness.
