What Ahana is

Ahana is a publishing house that intends to publish books by women that speak of the particular joys and trials of being a woman. Through our books, we would like to reach out to women in India and bring them, perhaps through an echo of their own lives, the inspiration, the solace and the entertainment that books can offer.

We would like to focus on stories where women overcome their troubles and learn to focus on their strengths. Stories where women find a confident place in society and not an apologetic one.

How many times have you picked up a book and laughed out aloud at the antics of a Stephanie Plum in Trenton; why not read of the shenanigans of a Saraswathi in Trichy? Or the detections of Miss. Mariamma in Madras? And why not fall in love with a tall, dark and handsome Krishna instead of a pale white Christopher?

To submit your manuscript:

If you have a proposal or idea for a book, please send us the proposal with a detailed synopsis and chapter outline, along with some sample chapters.

If your manuscript is ready, it may be sent to us in its entirety.

Please send your manuscript or proposal in hard copy only, through post or courier.

Material sent by e-mail cannot be evaluated – not because we want to be rigid, but because it is simply too difficult to do so.

Please do not send material on floppies or CDs. Only on paper, please.

Please retain a copy of the manuscript sent to us.

Evaluation would take a minimum of three months, though there may be occasions when we can revert to you earlier

Any queries regarding terms and conditions, royalties, etc will be discussed after evaluation of the manuscript.
